Getting to Know our Shepherds: Bruce Binkley

Kim and I met during our Sophomore year at Harding University. Kim is originally from the Dallas area and I grew up in Tulsa – but I was actually born in Piggott, Arkansas! After graduating in 1980, we moved to Oklahoma where I worked in the energy industry until retirement in 2013. I retired as CEO of an energy services company that allowed Kim and I to travel the globe and see many wonderful places…and sample some interesting food along the way! We attended the Broken Arrow church of Christ for nearly thirty years where I served as an elder the last eight years before we moved to Little Rock in 2016.

We have a uniquely blended family of four wonderful children; Shannon, Taylor, Jordan, and Kyle; all graduates of Harding University. Shannon came to live with us when she was sixteen as a foster daughter from a children’s home near Tulsa. She is a middle school teacher in Lafayette, La. where she and her husband Jeremy and daughter Jovie live. We adopted Taylor when she was an infant. She is a travel nurse currently in Tacoma, Washington. Jordan and Kyle came to us the hard way (according to Kim) – through childbirth. Many of you know Jordan and his wife, Donna who attend Chenal Valley. Jordan works for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Arkansas. Our youngest son Kyle, his wife Shannon, and our grandson Parker live in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Kyle is a Physical Therapist.

The transition to Little Rock has been a wonderful experience for our family. We immediately found a new church home at Chenal Valley and have enjoyed connecting with so many wonderful people. Our Life Group has been a blessing, and we appreciate so much the opportunity to work with other Life Group leaders. Kim is a wonderful teacher and mentor to many close friends near and far. We look forward to serving this church!
