JJ & Jill Childers
Jill and I (JJ) are both graduates of Harding University and we have two daughters who are currently in college. Our oldest, Mary Katherine, is a junior at Harding and our youngest, Annabelle, is a sophomore at Pepperdine.
I’m an attorney and entrepreneur offering business and legal services and training. I speak at seminars and conferences throughout the country for small business owners and real estate investors. Jill is an accountant with Woodland Research Group International.
Jill spent most of the girls’ childhood as a stay-at-home mom working primarily with their school activities and also volunteering with a variety of church and outside ministries.
We started attending Chenal Valley Church in 1994. We’ve both been involved in a number of ministries here at Chenal. I’ve served as an adult Sunday School and Wednesday night class teacher, Wednesday night Youth Group teacher, 1st and 2nd grade teacher, Deacon, Board of Trustees member and Chairman, Finance Committee member, Life Group Ministry leader, Life Group leader, Welcome Committee member, and assisting with communion and announcements.
Jill has been involved with the nursery, as a children’s Sunday School and Wednesday night class teacher, as one of the Women’s Ministers, Women’s Sunday School teacher, and in other capacities.
We chose to attend CVC because we liked the close-knit feel of the church and saw it as a welcome environment for people to get involved and make a difference. Our prayer for the church is for it to continue to be a place where people feel welcome, accepted, and appreciated. We are committed to helping people get plugged in to the various ministries and activities so that they feel a sense of belonging and investment in the people and purposes of CVC.
My hope and prayer for service as an Elder is that people view me as an open, accepting, and non-judgmental servant leader with whom they can share their issues, struggles, comments, and concerns. That is also my hope for the church as a whole.
